In the 18th century, Philadelphia's wealthy citizens spared no expense in building, decorating and entertaining.  Perhaps this is why so many of their houses have survived to provide a reflection of the grandeur that existed in colonial Philadelphia.  Step back in time as you explore some of the aspects of the gracious living that marked the 18th century aristocrat.  This will include tours of two of these houses, one in Society Hill and the other

"FEVER" TOUR

By the end of the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1793 over 5,000 people had lost their lives to this devastating illness.  This tour focuses on the experiences of a fictional heroine, Mattie Cook, as she endures tragedy and triumph during this horrendous period in
Philadelphia's history.

"RIGHTS AND WRONGS"

Visit the National Constitution Center, dedicated to celebrating the freedoms we enjoy through the United States Constitution.  Then... visit Eastern State Penitentiary which was dedicated to taking away those freedoms.  Continue with an inspirational walk through the National Liberty Museum, whose mission it is to preserve America's heritage of freedom.

Philadelphian's take their food traditions very seriously.  Check out some classic Philadelphia fare at the Reading Terminal Market.  Explore this vibrant and historic landmark as you learn the history of the market as well as the stories behind Philly's favorite foods such as cheesesteaks,
soft pretzels, sticky buns, and water ice.

Then it's on to the Italian Market in South Philly, the oldest and largest working
outdoor market in the United States. Still predominately Italian, it offers the best
of many cultures and cuisines.  Some
of the enticing shops include DiBruno Brothers' House of Cheese and Termini Brothers Bakery.
